On October 29, the Cronistas das Trevas team, with permission from Onyx Path Publishing and in partnership with many differents fans and RPG groups brought the second edition of the CofD Day. The nationwide event dedicated to promoting and playing the RPGs from the Chronicles of Darkness line was an enormous success, in which 14 (!) cities from across the country took part and over 160 people showed up to play.
CofD Day 2016 not only had doubled the participating cities but also received a special gift from the Onyx Path.

Yes, prizes! Our favorite horror games publisher sent us a box with countless things with which to distribute to those who participated in the event.
Now, let’s take a look at the pictures taken on the day!
Belém
Thanks to Rodrigo Ragabash and the folks from RPG Pará, we had 3 games:
- Changeling: the Lost
- Promethean
- Werewolf: the Forsaken 2e
Belo Horizonte
In Minas Gerais’ capital city, Krishna Farnese helped bring to life 2 stories:
- Chronicles of Darkness 1e (Humans only)
- Vampire: the Requiem
Colatina
Inside the regional event called “RPG no IFES” (which happens inside a uni campus), Hugo Rebonato coordinated 2 groups:
- Changeling: the Lost
- Vampire: the Requiem
Fortaleza
Yet another successful year alongside Dmitri Gadelha and the folks from Vila do RPG, they held 4 games that day, one of them being a Kult story adapted to the CofD.
Macapá
Hosted by the Basic Mountain Store and our partner Leandro Cavalcante, Amapá’s capital had 4 stories being told that day:
- Geist
- 2 Basic Chronicles of Darkness games
- A WoD Hunters Hunted game
Manaus
Thanks to our friend Xavier Raphael, Manaus had 2 groups:
- Werewolf: the Forsaken
- Mage: the Awakening
Natal
In a local event called “Arena Geek”, our partner Raphael Lima helped us bring to life 2 games:
- Basic Chronicles of Darkness
- Werewolf: the Forsaken 2e
Piracicaba
Piracicaba, one of the newcomers to the CofD Day, hosted inside their “Encontro de RPG no SESC Piracicaba” 2 CofD games, with the help of our partner Túlio Gomes:
- Mage: the Awakening
- Changeling: the Lost
Recife
Returning for the second year, Recife and our partners at Irmandade do RPG had 3 groups playing:
- Basic Chronicles of Darkness
- Werewolf: the Forsaken and…
- Scion! This one was a pleasant surprise, despite not being CofD, it’s nice to know the other OPP games have fans as well.
Rio de Janeiro
In Rio, your humble chroniclers S3rv3r1n0 and Dante teamed up with Jorge Valpaços, who runs the RPG na BPE weekly RPG event. Together, we’ve managed to host 5 gaming groups (despite the unfortunate absence of 3 STs), to the success and satisfaction of all the involved:
- Beast: the Primordial
- Mage: the Awakening
- Innocents
- Dark Eras: Three Kingdoms China
- Geist: the Sin-Eaters
Santa Maria
Thanks to our chronicler Jéssica Lang, Santa Maria had a single but “strangely” inspired, that is, an Innocents game based off on “Stranger Things”. We also take our hats off to their hauntingly beautiful decoration.
São José
One of the newcomer cities, the games were all held at the Covil da Lua store, thanks to our partner Antônio Henrique, there we had 2 groups:
- Changeling: the Lost
- Basic Chronicles of Darkness
São Paulo
São Paulo, home to 2 of our chroniclers, Thiago Miani and Bruno Venâncio, they hosted the CofD Day in partnership with the folks from Dungeon Geek. There, we had 2 games:
- Changeling: the Lost
- Mage: the Awakening
It must be said that, despite being such a huge city, the venue where we would host the event had to close, thus, forcing us to change the location and, in the process, lose some precious STs and players.
Serra
Last, but not least, our longstanding friend and partner André Cruz helped us bring 2 groups to Serra, inside their traditional event, Dungeon Capixaba:
- Vampire: the Requiem
- Basic Chronicles of Darkness

Final thoughts and thanks
To watch an event that started with 7 cities grow up to double that number in a year is amazing. All of us from the Cronistas team are baffled with the care and devotion shown by all you RPG and CofD fans.
We know many cities hit some snags, such as changing venues or absent players/STs. We were constantly asking for dates, addresses, the surveys… and in the end, all went well. With lots of effort and dedication, the Chronicles of Darkness Day is an accomplishment of us all.
Here are some partners and names we would like to thank, for helping us with such an important event: Ragabash, Krishna, Hugo, Dmitri, Leandro, Xavier, Raphael, Túlio, Valpaços, Antônio, Bruno, Domy Perretti, Thiago, Jéssica and André “Velhinho”.
We would also like to thank some groups that helped as well in the organization and local coordination: RPG no IFES, Vila do RPG, Irmandade do RPG, RPG na BPE, Covil da Lua, a Dungeon Geek and Dungeon Capixaba.
Finally and far from being the least important, we thank Onyx Path and its creative director Richard Thomas, who constantly supported us and allowed this to happen.
To all of you, our most sincere: THANK YOU!
See you on the CofD Day 2017!
